Employee Spotlight - Christine Garcia

Christine Garcia

Sr. Project Manager, Operations Solutions
Dallas, TX USA

“It’s been exhilarating to see how we continue to improve in all areas year-over-year.”

What do you do in your role at PFS?
As a project manager, I help new and existing clients implement new technologies or processes. Our team also leads internal initiatives, such as changing a software tool or supporting a continuous improvement effort for the company.

What do you find most interesting about your job?
After years of being with PFS and years as a project manager, I still learn something new with every project. It’s a constant learning experience.

What have been some of your most important experiences at PFS, and how have they shaped you as a person or a professional?
For me, it’s been the mentorship and friendships developed, the camaraderie of working towards a common goal and the personal satisfaction of knowing your contribution played a role in meeting that goal. But the most special bonds have been made outside of our day-to-day work, such as participating in events like Corporate Challenge or our Halloween contests. My favorite memory of all time was the “penny wars.” This was a competition between departments to see who had the highest dollar amount in pennies to raise money for charity. I can’t remember the final amount raised, but we had thousands of pennies and it was so much fun.

How has your career grown since you started working at PFS?
I started working in the Outbound Operations department as a student in 2007. It was in this department that, at the end of my studies, I was hired as a full-time employee. Shortly afterwards, my supervisor at the time gave me the opportunity to be trained as a Traffic Assistant. This experience allowed me to get a more global view on how outbound operations work and the opportunity to become a manager.

Employee Spotlight - Justino Medeiros

Justino Medeiros

Sr. Operations Manager, Contact Center
Dallas, TX USA

“This job keeps you young because you’re constantly thinking!”

What do you do in your role at PFS?
I oversee and manage the successful delivery of the Contact Center service component of our business for numerous clients in our portfolio. This includes submitting requisitions to bring new team members on board, working as part of the ops/production team, and acting as a central liaison between the client and Business Management, alongside our Workforce Management, Recruiting, and Training teams.

What do you find most interesting about your job?
The fact that each day brings a different challenge and opportunity, as well as getting to help our clients get better insight into their business. There’s no one day that’s the same. This job keeps you young because you’re constantly thinking! The challenges of Client A can be completely different from the challenges of Client B, so I’m impacting our business in different ways every day.

We’re the front line – we’re the brand behind the brand. We get to share what customers are saying and share that back with the client, and help them brainstorm ways to meet their customers’ needs. We play an important role in letting brands know what’s going on and keeping a pulse on what their customers want.

How has your career grown since you started working at PFS?
I started at PFS as a regular CSR on one of our largest accounts. I rose through the ranks and took the lead on that account, then I started managing our L’Oréal accounts up until 2015. PFS has afforded me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of the eCommerce business, having been directly involved in many implementations and client launches across industries over the years. Over the years, I’ve touched a majority of our contact center accounts in one way or another. The tenure, experience, and knowledge of our staff have been of immense value. I love the people I work with.

What have been some of your most important experiences at PFS, and how have they shaped you as a person or a professional?
There are many experiences I can think of, but one that always stands out for me each year is our fourth quarter operations, where departmental hierarchy becomes virtually non-existent. Everyone lends a hand wherever it is needed.

What are some exciting things you’re looking forward to at PFS?
I look forward to us growing the contact center operation globally through more client launches and expansion of our market reach as an end-to-end eCommerce solution provider. Right now I’m looking forward to ramping up all of our agents currently in training who are getting ready for our clients’ summer promotions, and working on our IVR system to make sure customers calling our agents have a good experience during those peaks in volume.

What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
I enjoy hanging outdoors with my kids and family, reading, following soccer and boxing, and traveling whenever I can. Greece and Brazil are definitely on my bucket list to visit.

“Great things happen at PFS!”

What do you do in your role at PFS?

Employee Spotlight - Judith Barajas

Judith Barajas

Manager, Business Management
Southampton, England, UK

“Although peak is the most challenging time in our company, I think it is the best time to come together as one big family and help each other out.”

What was your role when you started at PFS?
I was a part of the College Recruit program in the Summer of 2016. After I completed the program, I joined the Business Management team as a Senior Associate. My first client was Starbucks, and I spent the first month ship-confirming orders. 😊

How has your career grown since then?
My career has grown immensely since then! I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work for multiple different Directors in Business Management on a handful of different accounts, and even with the BOSS team for a short period of time. Moving from account to account has helped me gather a lot of knowledge to support clients with different backgrounds and share all that PFS has to offer.

What is your current role?
I am currently a Manager leading two key accounts in the UK office.

Who at PFS inspires you to succeed at your job and why?
This is a hard question! There are many people who inspire me at PFS from multiple levels and departments, coming from higher leaders such as Zach Thomann, to the women leaders in IT such as Teresa Gardner and Gwen Howard, to operational team members and even seasonal employees. Their daily commitment and dedication to the company and to getting things done correctly inspires me to always look for improvements and never stop learning from outside of my expected role.

In what positive ways are you challenged by your job?
There’s always something new to learn. As eCommerce continues to evolve, so should we try to grow our knowledge. Every day there’s a new challenge to overcome and learn from.

What is your fondest memory of working at PFS so far?
PEAK! Although peak is the most challenging time in our company, I think it is the best time to come together as one big family and help each other out. I also think it’s the best way to get to know people that we wouldn’t usually work with on a daily basis. It’s a great opportunity to get more connections and who knows, you never know when you can call that friend for a favor. 😉

In five words or less, how would you describe what working at PFS means to you?
Eye-opening, challenging, family

What advice would you give a person starting at PFS?
You always learn something new every day. If by the end of the week you haven’t learned something new, you have done something wrong. Get out of your comfort zone and talk to as many people as you can from different departments, and most importantly, different geos!

What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
Outside of work I LOVE to travel. I love visiting new places, engaging with different cultures and trying different cuisines.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Mauritius. I’ve heard it’s such a beautiful island and it’s outside of the “typical” touristy locations.

Employee Spotlight - Molly Dunn

Molly Dunn

Sr. Project Manager, Implementation
Allen, TX, USA

Watching a space grow from essentially studs and concrete into a fully operational facility is incredibly rewarding.

What was your role when you started at PFS?
I started at PFS within the college recruit program. Upon “graduating” from the program, I was selected to join the Implementation team as Project Manager.

How has your career grown since then?
I have remained in the Implementation group for my tenure at PFS and am currently a Sr. Project Manager. I have managed many projects spread across existing clients, new clients and internal initiatives. In 2018, I completed what I jokingly refer to as an “externship” at another company, serving as the Project Manager for their eCommerce re-platform and OMS redesign, which provided me incredible insight into the client side of our implementations.

Who at PFS inspires you to succeed at your job and why?
I have always been inspired by Raegan Gill, and not just because he’s my VP and controls my paycheck… In all seriousness, Raegan has been at PFS for a very long time, but he is so eager to learn about new clients, new products, and everything PFS – inside and out. At one point I remember him doing a demonstration for our group on a new type of box (yes, a cardboard box – important stuff in our business) and he was so stoked to show everyone! It’s a joy being part of his team because he really enjoys his job, while understanding and empathizing with the difficult aspects. That’s one of the great things about being at PFS, though – I am regularly surrounded by people with great experience and a desire to do good work.

In what positive ways are you challenged by your job?
Every project and every client is different and requires creative thinking, even clients that have been with PFS for years (or decades). I appreciate that clients turn to us for advice on best practices and innovative solutions. This keeps me and our teams on our toes!

What is your fondest memory of working at PFS so far?
My favorite projects at PFS thus far have been the opening of the Freeport facility and the relocation of the Dallas Contact Center into the new floors. I had previously managed facility initiatives in Memphis, Manila and Bangalore, but really valued being more hands-on with the Dallas projects due to the closer proximity. Watching a space grow from essentially studs and concrete into a fully operational facility is incredibly rewarding.

In five words or less, how would you describe what working at PFS means to you?
Fulfilling

What advice would you give a person starting at PFS?
Ask questions. I have yet to meet anyone at PFS that isn’t willing (and often eager) to take the time to explain their role, a PFS system, new functionality, or anything else. There is always something new to learn here.

What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Alaska

Employee Spotlight - Alexandre Lewinski

Alexandre Lewinski

Inventory Control Assistant
Liège, Belgium

Working at PFS is the adventure of a lifetime.

What was your role when you started at PFS?
I arrived at PFS when I was a college student. I saw an ad on a wall in my school saying that an American company was looking for students for an eCommerce job, and I remember saying to myself that it sounded more interesting than other types of jobs available to college students. So I applied for the position, and they took me.

How has your career grown since then?
I’ve worked in almost every department in the DC. I started working with Inbound and learned a lot about receiving and putaway. Then I spent some time with Outbound, picking and packing for our clients. Finally, I became friends with one of the workers in Inventory Control and I started to work with that team. Then I graduated and continued to work and learn the “PFS way of life.” I eventually signed a permanent contract with PFS and continued to learn more about cycle counts and especially slotting. Eventually I was put in charge of slotting.

When PFS opened a warehouse in Southampton, UK, the company started to send some of our people to help over there and train our new colleagues. Shortly after opening the new DC, during Peak 2019, PFS asked me to go to the UK to help the Inventory Control team over there for peak, and that’s how I met Christophe Pecoraro, our Managing Director at the time (he’s since been promoted to Area Vice President of PFS Europe). We spoke a lot about PFS and the work I had been doing, and I was eventually promoted to Inventory Control Assistant last year, becoming an official PFS employee.

What is your current role?
Since my first trip to the UK to help during peak of 2019, I’ve continued traveling between Belgium and the UK to support my Inventory Control teammates. So, when I’m in Belgium I’m still providing support to my Inventory Control Manager for physical inventories and the slotting process. When I’m in the UK, I have more of a support and supervisor role to help the Inventory Control team be more efficient and to teach them the PFS way of doing things.

In what positive ways are you challenged by your job?
eCommerce is a domain in constant evolution. Because we have new clients every year, we must invent ourselves again and again to support the client’s business and get familiar with their products. When I’m in the UK, the main challenge is to find the best way to teach the team the DNA” of Inventory Control so they can be more efficient and independent.

Who at PFS inspires you to succeed at your job and why?
I’ve met a lot of interesting people at PFS and everybody has their own skills and experiences. Listening to them is pretty interesting for me because I’ve been learning a lot about how they grew up and have reached main positions in the company. Here are the three or four people who have been most inspiring: Adel Slim, the Operations Manager, for his way of always finding a solution even when it seems impossible to find one. Anne-Sophie Modave for her patience and her marvelous way of managing Inventory Control in Belgium. Xavier Franssen (Europe Operations Manager) for his ability to help everyone and his commitment to PFS. Lisa Cooley (Europe Director) because she is the funniest director I’ve ever met. She brings great leadership and listens to her employees and always wants them to be comfortable with their job.

What is your fondest memory of working at PFS so far?
You know, it’s like when you are in a restaurant and you have to choose between a tasty burger and a delicious pizza…I have so many fond memories that I really can’t choose. For me, it’s all about taking an entire experience with both good and not-so-good memories.

In five words or less, how would you describe what working at PFS means to you?
The adventure of a lifetime.

What advice would you give a person starting at PFS?
Fasten your seatbelt and hang on!

What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
When I’m out of work, I like to spend some time with old friends. I also like to play tennis – it’s a very difficult sport and it can help you to reach goals and have a better mental outlook. I am also fond of the arts. You can find me in a cinema watching movies and analyzing directing, actors, and screenplays, or at a rock concert enjoying good vibes.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Being a cinema addict led me to watch those Hollywood-made movies about America’s wonderful landscape, so my dream is to take a grand tour and visit wild America, like the Grand Canyon or the Grand Teton National Park, but I’d also like to visit cities like Vegas and L.A. and go to the Coachella music festival.

Employee Spotlight - Lizzie Dillard

Lizzie Dillard

Manager, Business Management
Allen, TX, USA

We have some amazing women in our company who wear many hats both professionally and personally, and they do it with strength and grace.

What was your role when you started at PFS?
I started at PFS right after graduating from college as a Senior Associate in Business Management.

How has your career grown since then?
I have had so many wonderful opportunities during my time at PFS to support a wide array of client engagements, of all shapes and sizes, utilizing the various services PFS has to offer.

What is your current role?
I currently serve as a Manager in the Business Management department supporting a portfolio of brands that includes apparel, numismatics collectibles, and jewellery.

Who at PFS inspires you to succeed at your job and why?

How many people can I list?? I have learned so much from each of the people I have had a chance to work for. Zach Thomann, Jamie Saucedo, Patrick Lowe, Laura Touchette, Kamran Iqbal, Sara Vaughn, and Avi Rao have all been instrumental and inspiring in my career, just to name a few. It’s pretty special when you see the leadership of the company down in the trenches working alongside seasonal workers, just doing their part to make sure the job gets done. As they have grown in their careers, they have not taken that as an opportunity to become out-of-touch with the day-to-day. And yet, they are also able to operate at such a strategic and forward-thinking level. Their ability to immerse themselves in the micro and macro level of our company is inspiring to me and challenges me daily.

I also have to say, we have some amazing women in our company who wear many hats both professionally and personally, and they do it with strength and grace. They have poured encouragement and support into my life and I am forever grateful.

In what positive ways are you challenged by your job?
Each day, I am presented with the opportunity to communicate and strategize both internally to PFS and externally with the client. How I listen and communicate can present vastly different outcomes so it is an exciting challenge to ensure I’m communicating effectively and bringing peace of mind to all teams I get the opportunity to engage with.

What is your fondest memory of working at PFS so far?
I have a hard time pinpointing just one memory. I love any opportunity I get to be with my team in person or travel to visit our various operational sites and clients. These moments don’t happen as frequently as they use to, but I’m thankful for technology like Teams that makes us feel not so far apart.

In five words or less, how would you describe what working at PFS means to you?
It feels like family. 😊

What advice would you give a person starting at PFS?
Tactically speaking: Listen, take notes, ask questions. Never assume you are too low on the totem pole to be an active listener in any conversation or to attempt to understand a challenge and a solution.

From a career growth perspective: You have more control over the outcome than you might realize. If you want to see growth in your career, the decisions you make and the way you carry yourself on a daily basis can and will significantly impact the trajectory of your career.

On being a team player: Be humble and recognize everyone at all levels of the company plays an integral role and deserves respect. Approach every conversation as if you have something to learn from somebody else no matter who they are or what their title is. Remember what different people taught you and give credit where credit is due. You never know what someone might be going through professionally and personally, so try to walk in their shoes and be kind.

What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
Spending time with my family and friends really is my favorite thing to do. My husband and two boys are my biggest blessings. I also love to dance, sing, cook, run, and travel. Being a working mama doesn’t lend itself to lots of time for hobbies, so I often find myself dancing and singing while I cook dinner for my familyalways multi-tasking. 😊

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
That’s a long list, but for sure all 50 states, Switzerland, and New Zealand.

Employee Spotlight - Laura Loureiro

Laura Loureiro

WMS Manager, Operations
Liège, Belgium

My career has never stopped evolving since I was hired.

What was your role when you started at PFS?
started at PFS for my internship. As a student, I learned how the warehouse functions and how the IT system can improve productivity. This was actually the topic of my thesis at university.

How has your career grown since then?
My career has never stopped evolving since was hired. We were initially two in our department together with my manager. I became more autonomous when he moved to the US, then jumped into the role of mentor myself when our department continued to grow. I had the opportunity to work partially in implementation. This experience helped me gain a global IT approach and gave me an interesting overview for my current role.

What is your current role?
I am currently WMS Manager. My team aligns the IT system with the processes in the warehouse. Our projects can be driven by client specificities or internal needs. People reach out to us, for instance, when we want to implement specific packaging needs or when the DC redesigns their layout. I am also involved in new client implementation projects, where we work hand-in-hand with operations and implementation teams.

Who at PFS inspires you to succeed at your job and why?
There are many inspiring leaders at PFS, so don’t want to name anyone in particularPositive energy, open-mindednesswillingness to help each other thrive and their power to convince are some key values I find in these leaders. When everybody has clear objectives and is working in the same direction, we are much more effective altogether. Team spirit is very important to me.

ERP Solutions Architect, Implementation
Liège, Belgium

Bring your passion! Skills are good, of course, but it is the passion that will take your career to the next level.

What was your role when you started at PFS and what is your current role within your team?
I joined PFS as a Senior Implementation Analyst in 2011. As a Solutions Architect, my main role is to scope, design and implement solutions for our clients, whether that be for new solutions or major architectural changes that require a holistic view of the impacts on the business (operations, finance, accounting), etc.

What school/college/university did you go to?
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business and Languages, and I’ve been lucky to study over the years in many areas of Europe including France, the UK, and Spain.

How has your career grown since starting at PFS?
I would say it grew more in a horizontal way than vertical. As a result, not only my expertise in my business area improved, but I also developed a strong knowledge of the whole PFS ecosystem and our wider industries, gaining strong credibility internally within the business and importantly, with our clients.

What is special about the team you work with?
Trust and reliability. We have always been a special team with a friendly and collaborative way of working. We share information, support each other when needed, and rely on each other.

What has been the most rewarding project you’ve worked on so far at PFS?
There have been so many projects, all challenging and rewarding at the same time. This year’s projects with the COVID-19 lockdown have been particularly challenging, because of tight timelines under a completely new way of working. It’s a good feeling when it all eventually comes together in the end.

The client, because of the trust they put in me to deliver quality and on-time projects. And also, my colleagues at the DC and other PFS departments who deserve to get a reliable, working solution.

What experiences/challenges in your life best prepared you for your job at PFS?
When I was in school and not focusing on my studies the way I should have been, my father asked me, “Do you prefer to be a ‘lambda’ user, or do you want to be the one that can imagine, create, and design?” Said this way, the choice was easy and it drove the way I do and see things.

In what positive ways are you challenged at PFS?
I often have to have instant creativity! In my position, I am often asked to design or find solutions in a rather short timeframe, which is challenging with the numerous dependencies of a Warehouse Management System and Order Management System.

What advice would you give a person starting at PFS?

Employee Spotlight - Diana Garcia

Diana Garcia

QA & Training Sr. Manager, Customer Contact Center
Dallas, TX, USA

“You have to be ready to make an impact and willing to take a chance on learning something new!”

When did you start at PFS?
A while ago, June 2003.

What is your role within your team?
My focus is to provide quality training for our agents and leadership team. Our department provides recurring as well as recursive training to ensure we deliver amazing customer service. When I’m not training, I’m involved with ramp-up plans, action plans and new initiatives across the contact center. We are constantly evolving and growing, so it keeps me on my toes.

What experiences/challenges in your life best prepared you for your job at PFS?
Being a leader at PFS is such a great responsibility and we wear so many hats: We’re motivators, counselors and change agents. The most important hat is that of a leader, because we have so many teams that depend on us. I learned very early in my career with PFS that change is driven by those who choose to take the initiative and make an impact. You have to find that drive within yourself to keep moving and keep searching for solutions. I could never give up on my PFS family!

I am also a proud single parent of one, which has involved a lot of responsibility and very hard decisions. Nothing prepares you to be a parent, but it has been the most rewarding event of my life. My child is 20 now, and although there were hard times, I never let my child see me defeated. As I said, you have to find that drive within yourself to keep moving and keep searching for solutions!

In what positive ways are you challenged at PFS?
Where do I start! I’m challenged every day by making decisions that impact so many departments. I must be analytical and see things from different perspectives. My leadership skills are constantly put to the test to ensure my team is motivated to deliver results.

What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
I love to dance to just about anything – the more challenging, the better. I also love to travel. It’s always interesting to see and learn about different cultures and experience different parts of the world.

What is your fondest memory from your time at PFS so far?
Wow! There are so many. I’ve practically grown up at PFS. I will never forget the many times we’ve had to come together to answer phones to ensure our clients are taken care of. Our busy fourth quarter peaks each bring a different element or challenge that makes us grow each year. It has been quite the journey!

What has been the most rewarding project you’ve worked on so far at PFS?
The most rewarding project recently has been contributing to the deployment plan for our team during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was challenging to transition our agents to a work-from-home model for the first time, but it’s been very rewarding to see them thrive in this new environment. Prior to that, another rewarding project was launching the TOMS customer care solution, which was the fastest implementation we’ve ever done in the contact center. The client is so giving, so it was a pleasure to be part of that.

What was your role when you started at PFS?
Oh wow – that was so long ago! My first role was as a customer service representative.

What advice would you give a person starting at PFS?
You have to be ready to make an impact and willing to take a chance on learning something new!

What is your fondest memory from your time at PFS so far?
This one is easy. The opportunity to move to the U.S. It was a challenge to make it happen with all the legal obstacles but was so worth it.

What is special about the team you work with?
Widespread. Most of my small team is in Europe. I do not get to see them a lot but Teams is a great tool on a daily basis! We could think that 7 hours difference is a problem for interactions but it is not at all. It actually helps having the work done right in many ways!

How has your career grown since starting at PFS?
Very unexpected. I started with a logistics background with an interest in ERP in Inventory Control and barely 2 years after, I was asked to move to the IT dept and implement new European clients! Then, travel to all facilities worldwide and ended up relocating 5000-miles away!

What are some of your favorite things about coming to work every day?
The in-person interactions with my Team (opposed to virtual ones) and a good workout (I ride my bicycle as often as I can to go to the office.)

What do you like about working in eCommerce?
It never stops changing! The world is barely embracing eCommerce and we can see it now more than ever.

As a Solutions Architect I provide technical leadership, work on designs and provide technical solutions. In addition, I enjoy conducting R&D on complex technical problems like API integrations with client ERP systems. Who at PFS inspires you to succeed at your job and why?
First, the core technical team members at headquarters who have tremendous experience. Their approach to problems and their problem solving skills inspire me. My second source of inspiration is the team management by PFS BU India director, Ganesh Baba, who has great leadership traits. He genuinely cares about people and brings the best out of us. He always teaches us to stay focused and goal oriented, no matter what impediments come our way.

In what positive ways are you challenged at PFS?
Ecommerce is very dynamic. PFS deals with a large number of customers whose business models differ from one to the other. I’ve worked on many projects and encountered several challenges, especially in terms of technology changes that come along very quickly. Our team continuously rises to the challenge, driving research and development activities to find suitable solutions to these technical challenges. Through this work, the India ERP team has become the go-to team for such API developments, which I see as a huge win.

I have a 6-year-old son with whom I like to spend a lot of time playing various games, NOT video games, of course! Additionally, the majority of my free time is spent doing a lot of reading and travelling, which I am very passionate about. And of course, for any Indian, playing and watching cricket is part of life, I enjoy that too.

What is your fondest memory from your time at PFS so far?
We started as a small team at this location and were handling small projects. As time passed, the team grew in size and experience so that now we are able to handle complex projects. Therefore, my fondest memory is when the ERP India team got our first opportunity to take complete responsibility of a big, complex project and it was implemented successfully. The way we continuously grow in this organization is remarkable to me.

What is special about the team you work with?
I work with a fantastic team; it is a highly mature and talented group of developers who are technically capable, functionally strong, highly dedicated and hardworking. I also have a great leader who always guides, advises and corrects me whenever I am in need, while also being a great motivator for the entire team. The headquarters team with whom we work is an awesome, highly talented and highly collaborative team with great experience. In short, I would say that if I am able to contribute anything at all, it is only because I am part of this great team both locally and at our headquarters.

What was your role when you started at PFS?
I joined PFS as a Technical Architect, mainly working on development and testing activities, and gradually moved into design. From day one I’ve enjoyed working with my team on both technical and functional aspects to ensure projects are delivered on time and with the highest quality.

What is the most unexpected benefit of working at PFS?
Prior to working at PFS, I was completely immersed in technical roles. At PFS, I was given the opportunity to take on the responsibilities of project and people management in addition to my technical responsibilities. This, I would say, was an unexpected benefit. I have also learned a lot of leadership, team management and resource management skills under the mentorship of my manager – a dream come true for me.
